social behaviour and emotions

in caveman days our behaviour options
were limited and errors were simple
like poor aim with a spear at a wild boar
emotions appear to correct when failures occur

now we don't have such simple challenges
now much of our effort goes into
social interaction and
financial success

we still get emotions to correct errors
but the guidelines which determine errors
especially in social interactions
are apparently very vague
thus the adage that many apply to this and thus all of life
'everyone has to find their own meaning'

in other words
nobody is prepared to define the solutions

so our most valued efforts are treated
by most of humanity
as a holy grail
venerated but not examined

the qualities that make a decent and likeable person
should not be hard to define:

truth in the way we see ourselves
and in the way we see
others and the world
is essential

if you lie to yourself about yourself or about the world around you
you are unable to be a decent person
because you are not dealing with reality
you are dealing with a dream world
the dream is made by your desire to be happy

those who delude themselves in this way
then deal with the world
by attack and defence
instead of by adjustment

in the dream world you see
yourself as superior
and others as inferior
and you then allow yourself
to engage in attack and defence
which means you allow
violence
either emotional or physical
to help you in your quest for happiness

even acquiescing sycophants
are underneath not persuaded of their inferiority
but use this behavior as a lever

negative outcomes in social interaction
result in negative emotions
but if the ground rules for success are vague or absent
then making good adjustments
to avoid failures is difficult
if childhood role models, love and mentoring
have been poor
then ground rules are absent

mostly these ground rules are taught in a subliminal way
during childhood upbringing

if the upbringing has been deficient
then to solve problems from this position is difficult
because there is no handbook

there is a wealth of self help books
but most of these are based on empiricism
and have not touched on the seminal problem
so they are like a cheerleader song
lots of spirit and encouragement
but no reason to base it on and connect it up

when failures occur
and are rewarded by negative emotion
if there is no understanding of the problem
then there is no hope to avoid a repeat event
then more negative emotion comes in
a repeat event occurs and more negative emotion
these emotions can
escalate and
recycle/reverberate and
entrain other thoughts
eventually this will become depression
or lead to crime
or drug abuse
or insanity

this escalation is the means emotions use to maintain control
if one smack will not do
then another might
poor spear throwing is fixed by target practice
but unsuccessful socioeconomic behavior
has no clear ground rules
so no solutions in our world

so in the socioeconomic world emotions
 may still allow procreation
which is success for dna
but some will be assailed often by negative emotion
and their lives can become various types of
covert or overt hells
