 response to emotions

responses to emotions can be classified as
constructive
or harmful
the characteristic that defines a harmful response
is that it occurs in a mode of attack or of defence

negative emotions are useful to warn us that something is not right
this can be...
in us or outside us
conceptual or material
past present or future

our response is always better in the form of
making necessary adjustments
which might be
to fix
to accept
or to become removed
from the problem

if our response is not to make adjustments
then we engage in attack or defence

this basically means we are bringing violence to bear
whether physical or emotional

the violence can be
internal aimed at ourselves
as with anorexia or drug abuse
or external as with criminality or aggressive mental illness

in all these cases
the aim remains the search for happiness

the constructive search is done without harm to self or others
the destructive search happens when attack and defence mode are initiated
