dna extended phenotype

dna has its expression in
our physical bodies
our minds and their design
and our extended phenotype
which is:
our changed environment which we have fashioned
as a result of our minds and bodies' activities over generations
all of this has been directed for survival of dna
though we have been unwitting players in this

now it seems there is a flourishing of interest in the west
about how our minds and emotions work
this is in the ambit of the extended phenotype
that is:
dna still expressing itself
possibly the west's new interest in the understanding of mind and emotion
is another move on dna's part:
failure to understand emotion properly
has brought us to the brink of annihilation
because of destruction, competition, war or terrorism related to
environment,  religion, resources, ideologies.

all of these juggernauts of destruction are fueled by one thing:
emotion
in the case of resources and environment
the emotion is greed and hunger for power

in the case of ideologies and religion
the emotion is power, revenge or arrogance

but all of these emotions are simply related to
the one final emotion
happiness or any similar  word  for positive emotion

in all cases emotions is the baseline driver.
possibly, with a great deal of luck,
the phenotype for survival is going to change
so that instead of being driven by emotion unwittingly,
we come to know the relentless power
that emotion has  wielded over us since caveman days.
then by knowing how our neural networks have all along been directed,
we could come to avoid these dangers
by understanding.
this would be a meme of emotional understanding
as a paramount human skill set

this would appear to promise better survival of dna
and more happiness for individual humans.
whether survival selects for this or not
remains to be seen.
